Two boys, aged 10, charged with raping eight-year-old girl in park

Two 10-year-old boys have tonight been charged with the rape of an eight-year-old girl in west London.
The alleged sex attack relates to an incident in a park off College Way, Hayes, west London, in October last year.
Scotland Yard said the pair would appear before magistrates in Uxbridge on Thursday.
Police officers were called in by the girl’s family after she returned home and said she had been raped.
A Met police spokesman said the charges were made following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
‘This is in relation to an alleged incident in west London in October 2009.
‘They are due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday December 17 2009.’
The alleged attack was investigated by officers from the Met’s recently reorganised specialist Sapphire Unit.
The recently re-organised unit is part of the Specialist Crime Directorate.
It is run by detectives specially trained in child sex offences who have recently interviewed the young girl.
