Yunus to guest star in Simpsons


Renowned micro-creditor to be in the Simpsons cartoon in October. This news found at Finance Markets, written by David Masters.

The Bangladeshi anti-poverty banker Muhammad Yunus is to feature in an episode of hit TV cartoon The Simpsons.

Yunus, whose pioneering work on micro-finance earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006, will appear in the TV show as a cartoon version of himself.

The episode will focus on his micro-credit work in Bangladesh, which has helped to lift millions of people out of poverty.

His voice has already been recorded for the special episode, which will air in October.

ABUJA, Nigeria—Two bombs exploded early Monday outside a government building in the city of Warri, a Nigerian oil hub, said officials and witnesses, dealing a blow to a peace deal that aimed to prevent militant attacks on the nation’s oil infrastructure.

The attacks occurred just minutes before state governors were to convene to discuss a government peace program with Niger Delta militants.

Obama Defends War At Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony — AFP

OSLO — US President Barack Obama on Thursday accepted the Nobel Peace Prize, uncomfortably acknowledging his role as a leader at war while insisting that conflict can be morally justified.

Obama’s elevation to a pantheon of winners alongside the likes of Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King before he has even spent a year in office has sparked international debate.
